About the team
Kat is the founder of Kind Canines, and got her start as a trainer in 2018. She is a recent graduate from Michigan State University with a Bachelors of Science in Zoology with a concentration in Animal Behavior and Neurobiology. She is currently studying for her CCPDT-KA exam, and is an AKC CGC evaluator. Kat's love for dog training began in late 2015, when she adopted her dog Mara, and has only grown since then!
Mara is a 5 year old English Springer Spaniel mix adopted by Kat in 2015. While she was not Kat's first dog, she holds a very special place in her heart. Mara is occasionally used as a demo-dog, and occasionally attends sport classes with Kat. Mara is a very sweet dog who enjoys greeting new clients and guests, and loves belly rubs.
Merida is a 3 year old Australian Shepherd that Kat adopted in 2019. Kat is her fourth owner, and is her forever home. Merida is Kat's main demo dog, and participates in dog sport classes frequently with Kat. Merida's favorite sports are rally-o and dock diving. Merida can be an energetic, fun loving dog and eagerly greets new clients and guests.
