Drop in classes

Drop-in Classes

Drop in classes are on hold at this time and are expected to resume summer 2021. Pre-registration is required for all drop in classes due to Covid-19.

Calm dog

This class is designed for dogs who are friendly around other dogs, who need to improve on impulse control and calm behaviors. This course requires a mat or bed, and a clicker. All dogs will be on a 4-6 foot leash for the duration of the class. In this course, dogs will learn to lie on their mat or bed in a relaxed position for extended periods of time. As this is a drop in course, there is no strict lesson plan. Dogs will be introduced to targeting and clickers, and each week will be expected to increase the duration of their down stays. This class will be offered outdoors, weather permitting.

Advanced stays

This class is designed for dogs who need to improve on duration, distraction, and distance stays around other dogs. The focus for this class is to improve on the dogs existing skillset for stays. As this is a drop in course, no strict lesson plan will be followed and the class will be adjusted to meet the needs of the participants. Martingale collars, Y front or H front harnesses and minimum of 15 foot nylon, leather, or biothane leashes are required, retractable leashes are not permitted. This class will be offered outdoors, weather permitting.

Loose leash walking

This class is designed for dogs who need to work on improving their loose leash walking skills in public and around other dogs. This class will involve walking near other dogs, alongside varying other distractions. Martingale collars, Y front or H front harnesses and 4 or 6 foot nylon, leather, or biothane leashes are required, retractable leashes are not permitted. This class will be offered outdoors, weather permitting.

Speedy sits and downs

This class is focused on improving the response time for basic behaviors, such as sit and down. All dogs are expected to have a basic understanding of the cues, and should be well mannered around other dogs and people. Martingale collars, Y front or H front harnesses and 4 or 6 foot nylon, leather, or biothane leashes are required, retractable leashes are not permitted. This class will be offered outdoors, weather permitting. This class can be taken with and without the use of a clicker.

Intro to targeting

This class introduces your dog to the concepts of targeting and capturing behavior. This class requires a clicker, and it is preferred that a target stick is used but it is not required. This class can include mat work, desensitization to tools such as muzzles, and trick behavior capturing. Dogs should be well mannered around other dogs, but do not need a thorough understanding of any cues. This is a beginner friendly course. Martingale collars, Y front or H front harnesses and 4 or 6 foot nylon, leather, or biothane leashes are required, retractable leashes are not permitted. This class will be offered outdoors, weather permitting.

Puppy Junior

This course is designed with early puppy socialization in mind. Puppies must be between the ages of 8 weeks and 12 weeks with proof of current age appropriate vaccinations. Puppies will be handled by multiple owners, and will be given the opportunity to interact with other puppies. This course will include a brief introduction to name game and touch (hand targeting), as well as allowing for discussion on housebreaking, teething, and general puppy behaviors.
