Evaluations

This is a one time course offered both in-person and virtually to assist in assigning your dog to the best fit class. In-person sessions last 45 minutes, virtual sessions last 30 minutes. During the session, relevant information about the dog’s current skills and behaviors will be discussed, and if possible, demonstrated. A lesson plan and package options will be presented for the owner after the session. This course may be required for some courses for new clients.

Family Dog Foundations

This course is meant for adult dogs over 6 months old who may not have any prior training experience, and who may have minor behavioral problems such as digging, chewing, biting, barking, and pulling on leash. Dogs who have major behavioral problems, such as reactivity, anxiety, and aggression are welcome to attend this course, however it is not designed to deal with these issues directly. All dogs can benefit from learning basic household skills. Behaviors taught include sit, down, stay, come, touch (hand target), look, heel, introduction to loose leash walking, and place (mat work). Virtual sessions last 45 minutes, with five minutes allotted for questions. Dogs are not required to be on leash if indoors for this session. A high-speed internet connection, webcam, access to zoom, and an open space to work in are required for this course.

Puppy Foundations

This course is meant for dogs under 6 months old who are displaying typical puppy behaviors, including biting, housebreaking issues, crate training, and jumping. This course will cover discussion on basic puppy problems, in addition to teaching basic foundational skills. Behaviors taught include sit, down, stay, come, touch (hand target), look, heel, introduction to loose leash walking, and place (mat work). Virtual sessions last 45 minutes, with five minutes allotted for questions. Puppies are not required to be on leash if indoors for this session. A high-speed internet connection, webcam, access to zoom, and an open space to work in are required for this course.

Trick Dog Foundations

This course is tailored to prepare dogs for the AKC novice and intermediate trick titles. Owners will be given their choice of any test items approved by AKC to practice during the course. All dogs attending this class should have a good foundation in basic behaviors, such as sit, down, and touch (hand target) prior to enrollment. Dogs and puppies over 12 weeks old may attend this course.

Calm dog

This class is designed for dogs who struggle with settling down, including rescues and adolescent dogs. The focus of this class is to teach dogs how to relax under both normal conditions, and some moderate energy environments. A clicker, and mat or bed, are required for this course. This class runs for a minimum of 4 weeks.
